Unloaded!

Wow, unloading the Ubox was a breeze compared to getting it loaded. We got an email last Saturday that it had been delivered to the Uhaul facility in Danville and we stopped by and scheduled for us to pick it up yesterday. Got a call while in Raleigh on Wednesday asking if they could change our pickup to today which since we have nothing better to do was fine with us.

Mike’s Mom Lois’ boyfriend Jerry hauls his camper so rather than paying Uhaul to deliver the box, Jerry did it for us. We picked it up at 9, and with the help of a couple of Lois’ contacts at the fire department ( and a minimal tip) the box was unloaded and returned to Uhaul by 11.

All that is left to do is the repacking before we leave for San Juan next Saturday.

A week without much to do before being gone for seven months. Now I really feel like we are retired!

Charleston, well almost.

We left NOLA on Wednesday morning and made it to the east side of Atlanta before stopping for the night. Uneventful trip except for stopping at Waffle House for a Valentine’s Day lunch-yum, scattered and smothered hash browns. Didn’t know they had a value menu…thought that was the whole point of the house of waffles, but apparently not anymore.

After lounging the morning away at the Hampton Inn (thank you Hilton points!) we drove to Charleston arriving about 4. We are staying with my brother and his family in Ladson-a bedroom community about 20 minutes from downtown.

Yesterday we toured the Cummins Turbo Plant where my brother works and then had lunch at Bessingers BBQ. Yum, SC mustard based bbq sauce. Afterwards we watched my niece Madison for a bit at her tennis lesson (she is working hard to get herself set up for a scholarship) and even hit (well chased a few) balls with nephew Jack.

I then had what I think (hope) was my final work related concern call. Yeehaw!

After dinner we played a game- pretty funny, you have to insert dental things in your mouth and try to get your teammate to figure out what you are saying. Lots of laughs.

Mardi Gras is Over

Had a great time but 843 parades is about 822 too many but as you can see I was smiling!

If I ever had the opportunity, this is the Krewe for me!

Mardi Gras Night Two

Weather tonight made for a great parade night. Three parades and lots of fun…and beads. I even caught a shoe (the most treasured) during Muses parade, the women’s krewe. Pictures below is my sister in law Jennifer and our new friend Reggie with all of us showing off our shoes!

The parades were great with my favorites being one of Muses’ dance groups, the Pussyfoots.

All of us had a great time and I ended up with waaay too many beads!

And i swear all I did to get them was to catch them!
